The Mummification Museum is very small but provides an excellent insight into the process with large pictorial diagrams in sequential order accompanied by clear written descriptions. Physical items are also on display depicting each of the stages. The entrance fee is inexpensive too. If you go through the double doors to the right of the turnstiles, there’s a wonderful view of the Nile from which you can see Hetsheptut’s Temple built into the limestone.

It’s essential a small museum to educate how and what is mummification. With a few live example of 1 human and some animals that are mummified here. You can spend about half an hour to read and understand. 220 EGP per entry. Only card payment. Be careful there are a few locals here to tout for taxi rides at the entrance, ignore them even if they try to hard pitch you.

Visited the museum today. Small one hall museum under the sidewalk. Very reasonably priced but open only until 2 pm. Simple museum that can be covered in 1/2 hr to 45 mins. Mummification process explained high level with simple drawings. I was hoping to see lot more information with elaborate details. Visit if you are in the area and want to beat the heat/sun for sometime. They do have a mummy of a priest, some animals and few well decorated coffins.
